October 12,  2006

I put down my pen after writing the last few words of A Fairfax County History Mystery.  A set of baseball cleats met my eyes.  Scrolling upwards I quickly realized that he held two red roses in a Key Lime Creme bottle.  It is an infrequent and favorite summer cooler for me.

It is the middle of October.  Rainclouds and forecasts of cooler days do not bring the promise of gardens in bloom.  At least,  not within the near future.  I can only reflect on what was in bloom in the not to distant fading past.

The next search trip for the characters in this mystery will be October 2006.
